Dicranopteris dichotoma is a hyperaccumulator of rare earth elements (REEs). A systemic study on the combination of REEs with biomacromolecules in Dicranopteris dichotoma has been carried out using several biochemical techniques and NAA. The separation procedure of the REE-bound proteins (RBPs) from the fern leaves is shown in Figure 2.4 as an example. [Pg.57]

Four polysaccharides (PSs) of different solubilities in the leaves of Dicranopteris dichotoma, which were named as cold-water-soluble, hot-water-soluble, acidic-soluble, and basic-soluble PSs, were obtained. After deprotei-nization and gel chromatography separation, the absorption curves of the PSs... [Pg.57]

The bonding of REEs with DNA in Dicranopteris dichotoma was also confirmed. The REE content of the DNA accounts for 0.087% of total REEs in the leaves. The molecular weight of the REE-DNA band is about 22 kb by agarose gel electrophoresis. [Pg.59]

Quinic acid (833) and shikimic acids (834) seem to be present in most species (462, 463). For example, shikimic acid (834) was isolated from the fronds of Dicranopteris dichotoma in more than 3% yield on a dry weight basis (72). [Pg.95]
