Carl Still (2) A process for removing hydrogen sulfide from coke oven gas by scrubbing with aqueous ammonia, itself derived from coke oven gas. Developed in the 1970s by Firma Carl Still, Germany. Operated at the ARMCO steel mill at Middleton, OH. See also Diamox, Still. [Pg.50]

DIAMOX A process for removing hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide from coke oven gas by absorption in aqueous ammonia. Developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Industries and Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha and operated in Japan. [Pg.87]

Diamox containing acetazolamide (carbonic onhydrase inhibitor) may cause paraesthesia. [Pg.33]

Some drugs, such as the two-substituted thiodiazole and acetazolamide (Diamox), increase serum uric acid by stimulating uric acid synthesis (K9). Others, such as chlorothiazide (Diuril), increase uric acid retention by decreasing uric acid excretion (K9). Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits tubular secretion and has been shown to increase pretreatment mean uric acid values from 6.5 mg/100 ml to 10.3 mg/100 ml by the third treatment day. In a patient with gout, the level increased from 8 mg/100 ml to 12 mg/100 ml (H6). In a single case a paradoxical hypouricemia occurred (H6). [Pg.21]

Acetazolamide is used for epilepsy in the absence of attacks and also in conjunction with other antiepileptic drugs. The most common synonym of this drag is diamox. [Pg.131]

Acetazolamide is a weak diuretic with limited use in edema associated with cardiac insufficiency, glaucoma, minor epileptic attacks, and altitude sickness. Synonyms of this drag are midamor, modamide, cetazol, diamox, dicarb, and others. [Pg.279]
