Dialkylamino groups, terminal

Amines are named by adding the suffix-amine to the name of (a) the alkyl group attached to N or b) the longest alkane chain. The terminal e in the name of the parent alkane is dropped when amine follows but not when, for example, diamine follows [see Problem 18.1(d)]. Thus, CH3CH(NH2)CHjCHj is named sec-butylamine or 2-butanamine. Amines, especially with other functional groups, are named by considering amino, N-alkylamino and N,N-dialkylamino as substituents on the parent molecule N indicates substitution on nitrogen. [Pg.412]

Generally, arene(alkoxy)carbene chromium complexes react with aryl-, alkyl-, terminal or internal alkynes in ethers or acetonitrile to yield 4-alkoxy-l-naphthols, with the more hindered substituent ortho to the hydroxyl group . Upon treatment with alkynes, aryl(dialkylamino)carbene chromium complexes do not yield aminonaphthols, but they form indene derivatives . Vinyl(dialkylamino)carbene complexes, however, react with alkynes to yield aminophenols as the main products The solvent is one of the many factors that affects this type of reaction, for which the most important is the polarity and/or coordinating ability of the solvent. The Dotz benzannulation reaction yields either arene chromium tricarbonyl complexes or the decomplexed phenols, depending on the work-up conditions. Oxidative work-up yields either decomplexed phenols or the corresponding quinones. [Pg.454]

Phosphines can donate their P lone pair to a metal to give the mono-dentate terminal M-PR3 group. They are also mild tt acids, to an extent that depends on the nature of the R groups in the PR3 ligand. For alkyl phosphines, the tt acidity is weak aryl, dialkylamino, and alkoxy groups are successively more effective in promoting it acidity, and in the extreme case, PF3 is more tt acid than CO. [Pg.109]
