Determination of total alkane sulphonate

In this method the non-surfactant matter, chiefly sodium sulphate, is precipitated by adding an organic solvent and removed by filtration. The procedure is similar to that described in ISO 6122 [14]. [Pg.119]

Take a sample containing 0.5-1.0g total active matter. [Pg.119]

Add 150 ml of a mixture of three parts by volume of butan-l-ol and two parts of acetone. Stir thoroughly and allow to settle. [Pg.119]

Filter. Wash the filter and residue with the same mixed solvent. [Pg.119]

Determine the chloride content of the residue by potentiometric titration with silver nitrate and correct the observed weight. [Pg.120]

ISO 6122 1978 Surface active agents— Technical alkane sulphonates— Determination of total alkane sulphonates content. International Organization for Standardization, Geneva. [Pg.147]
