Design Optimisation of Fixed Bed Processes

Reijers et al. [50] completed a case study where a number of these parameters were varied for a SEWGS process to determine the resulting performance. Starting with a base case of 90% carbon capture with a 98% pure CO2 product gas, it was shown that both C02-product recovery and purity can be increased or decreased fairly easily depending on the plant requirements. 

With fixed bed designs, there are some constraints on the system such as making sure the particles do not fluidise, but these are not sufficient to explicitly define the process design. It is only through the integration of the SERF process into the full fuel production and conversion process that the optimal cycle arrangement and operating conditions can be obtained.
