To demonstrate an application of 3- and 4-a-Si H TFTs pixel electrode circuits in 100 and 200 dpi AM-PLEDs, we have fabricated a small size (0.5 x 0.5 in.2) engineering demonstration displays for both voltage- and current-driving pixel electrode methods, described above [24]. The processing steps of such units are described below. [Pg.595]

A green monocolor display was commercialized in 1997, and a multi-color display with blue, green and orange colors in 1999 both are used for automobile front-panel displays. A full-color demonstration display was made in 1998. A full-color TV monitor which can substitute for the present CRT and be used as a wall-hanging t5T3e is expected to be commercialized in a few years. The response time of EL devices, at 10 to 20 ms, can satisfy one of the important characteristics for TV. A prototype full-color TV monitor (13 inch) was demonstrated by the Sony Co. Ltd. in 2001, and attracted much attention at an Electronics Show held in Japan. The Japanese Government started projects on EL devices in 2002 one concerns large-area EL devices and the other flexible ones. [Pg.644]

To demonstrate the actual performance improvement of a dual domain LCD, a demonstrator display has been made. In this display the domains are made by patterning a photoalignment material supplied by LG Cable. This material... [Pg.138]

A number of other polymers are used in pipe form for small markets. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is popular where high transparency pipe is required for purposes such as demonstration display equipment. PC materials have high strength and stiffness and find some application for short-term pipe-work applications but the material can fail in brittle fashion because of notch sensitivity and crack growth when exposed to hydrocarbons. It therefore finds no long-term, large scale applications. [Pg.28]

Fig. 9.22. Bilateral theca lutein cysts CT at the umbilical level in a 27-year-old patient with a hydatiform mole. Bilaterally enlarged ovaries are demonstrated displaying numerous thin-walled cysts of water-like density. No enhancing solid structures or papillary projections could be identified. Theca lutein cysts are found in up to 20% of patients with a hydatiform mole... Fig. 9.22. Bilateral theca lutein cysts CT at the umbilical level in a 27-year-old patient with a hydatiform mole. EMPl, selected by phage display from random peptide libraries, demonstrates that a dimer of a 20-residue peptide can mimic the function of a monomeric 166-residue protein. In contrast to the minimized Z domain, this selected peptide shares neither the sequence nor the structure of the natural hormone. Thus, there can be a number of ways to solve a molecular recognition problem, and combinatorial methods such as phage display allow us to sort through a multitude of structural scaffolds to discover novel solutions. [Pg.365]

Figures 1.9a and b demonstrate the effeet of proton broadband deeoupling in the C NMR speetrum of a mixture of ethanol and hexadeuterioethanol. The C//j and CH2 signals of ethanol appear as intense singlets upon proton broadband deeoupling while the CD3 and CD2 resonanees of the deuteriated eompound still display their septet and quintet fine strueture deuterium nuelei are not affected by H decoupling because their Larmor frequeneies are far removed from those of protons further, the nuelear spin quantum number of deuterium is 7/3=/ in keeping with the general multiplieity rule (2nx Ix+ 1, Seetion 1.4), triplets, quintets and septets are observed for CD, CD2 and CD3 groups, respeetively. The relative intensities in these multiplets do not follow Paseal s triangle (1 1 1 triplet for CD 1 3 4 3 1 quintet for CD2 1 3 6 7 6 3 1 septet for CD3). Equation (18) displays the relationship between the column efficiency defined in theoretical plates and the column efficiency given in effective plates. It is clear that the number of effective plates in a column is not aii arbitrary measure of the column performance, but is directly related to the column efficiency as derived from the plate theory. Equation (18) clearly demonstrates that, as the capacity ratio (k ) becomes large, (n) and (Ne) will converge to the same value. [Pg.189]

The preceding subsection was devoted to a comparison of a special exact elasticity solution with classical lamination theory results. The importance of transverse shear effects was clearly demonstrated. However, that demonstration was for a special problem of rather narrow interest. The objective of this subsection is to display approaches and results for the approximate consideration of transverse shear effects for general laminated plates. [Pg.350]

In order to demonstrate that the systems in question exhibit nonzero wetting temperature, we have displayed the results of calculations for one of the systems (with =1 at T = 0.7). Fig. 12 testifies that only a thin (monolayer) film develops even at densities extremely close to the bulk coexistence density (p/,(T — 0.7) — 0.001 664). In Fig. 13(a) we show the density profiles obtained at temperature 0.9 evaluated for = 7. Part (b) of this figure presents the fraction of nonassociated particles, x( )- We... [Pg.219]
