Demineralization system

Soft Water. The soft water has the same analysis as the raw water except that all the Ca and Mg are replaced by sodium. This completely softened water is blended with raw water to give the blended partially softened water of SO ppm hardness that is used throughout the MTR site. 

Degasser and Sump, In order- to remove the-CO from the decationized water the water is sprayed down over wooden slats in. a wooden.tank and falls into a lined sump below. The water is-pumped from the sump through the deanionizers.

Because the demineralization system recycles up to 90% of the plant s process water, the small amount of remaining waste can be batch collected. The effluent can therefore be carefully tested and, if necessary, treated further prior to discharge. 

A very rough estimate of water costs can be made by assuming 2 per 1,000 gal ( 0.5 per metric ton). Demineralized water typically costs about double the price of raw water, but this obviously varies strongly with the mineral content of the water and the disposal cost of blowdown from the demineralization system.
