Delivery, drug design absorption

H. Okabe, K. Takayama, A. Ogura, and T. Nagai, Effect of limonene and related compounds on the percutaneous absorption of indomethacine. Drug Design Delivery, 4 313-321 (1989). [Pg.168]

The macaque rhesus monkey has an ovarian cycle of approximately 28 days, as does the human female, and it also exhibits an estrus pattern very similar to the menstrual pattern of the human female. It is widely believed by researchers in the fertility field that rhesus monkeys and humans have comparable anatomy and physiology, as well as similar reproductive func-tions. Therefore, the female rhesus monkey is a superior animal model for studying the vaginal absorption of various drugs from a drug delivery system designed for use in human females. [Pg.1348]

Factors affecting the delivery include the physical form of the drug, the entry into the body, the design and the formula of the product. This may depend on the physicochemical properties of the excipients, the control of the drug-excipient interaction at the absorption site. Thus, polysaccharides may play an essential role for effectiveness and reliability of the different drug delivery systems. [Pg.3]
