Selective degradation

To date, very few works deal with the degradation of UV filters both in liquid and in solid media. In particular, there is a lack of data on biodegradation of UV filters by fungi. Recently, an attempt to fill this gap has been carried out by assessing the potential of the white-rot fungus T. versicolor to degrade selected UV filters. [Pg.221]

Know the meaning of amino acid sequence, Sanger s reagent, Edman degradation, selective peptide cleavage. [Pg.322]

In the modified process, heating the starch mixture to approximately 95°C for 5 minutes Is sufficient. This mixture Is stored from a few hours to 2 weeks, depending on the mode of starch degradation selected. Longer storage of the degraded starch Is not detrimental, but prior to Its use It has to be mixed to uniform fluidity and transferred to the slasher, where It can be applied to the warp yam either at ambient or elevated temperatures (Table I). [Pg.131]

Extractive reserves provide a new concept for Amazonia. Most implemented models for Amazonian development and conservation are based on a preservationist/developmen-talist dichotomy (Foresta 1991). In this dichotomy, forests and their ecosystem components are to be preserved in parks and biological reserves. Areas designated for development are exploited at varying degrees of intensity that usually involve the complete elimination of forest cover (pasture and annual crops) or partial extraction and degradation (selective logging). This... [Pg.123]

A preliminary investigation on the biodegradation of graft copolymer and blends of PVA with chemically synthesized atactic PHB was carried out in an aqueous medium by using a PVA-degrading selected bacterial culture as inoculum. [Pg.335]

In general the activity of any catalyst falls off with time. Ultimately the conversion of reactants or production rate reaches an unacceptable level, or a compensatory temperature increase degrades selectivity. Long life is especially important for expensive catalytic materials deactivated precious metals may be recoverable, but the credit will only partially offset the cost of new material With fixed beds, even of cheap catalysts, considerable labour costs are incurred in discharging and recharging the reaction vessel, while loss of production during these operations will mean a loss of income (and possibly customers). [Pg.327]

Edman degradation Selectively cleaves the A/-terminal amino acid. [Pg.635]

The Edman degradation selectively cleaves the Af-terminal amino acid without affecting any other peptide bonds in a polypeptide or protein. [Pg.643]

The complete structures of the carbohydrate units of three other glycopeptides from ovalbumin (62—64) have been established, using a combination of sequential digestion with glycosidases. Smith degradation, selective acetolysis, and methylation analysis. ... [Pg.367]

Selective degradation Selective scissions of particular bonds, frequently by oxidation or hydrolysis. Example ozonalysis of polymers containing double bonds. (d)... [Pg.32]

In addition to autocatalytic oxidative degradation, selected polymers undergo additional photochemical reactions, depending on their structure and environment ... [Pg.82]
