Deflector blade

Starting from the deflector blade (see Figure 31), the drum rotates into the slurry in the vat and filtration begins at the first wet pick up port or No. 1 vacuum . The filter segment continues its rotation into the 2nd wet pick up or No. 2 vacuum . The rotation continues and the filter moves into the wash area or first dry pick-up and finally into the drying area or second wet pickup . The drying area may also be washed with cold solvent. The filter... [Pg.46]

Additional considerations include the mechanical stresses generated in vacuum and pressure filters that lead to fabric stretch and wear associated with filter blow gas. The filter cloth may suffer mechanical damage during installation, or from exposed deflector blades or other sharp or raised edges. The cost of the filter cloth is minor compared to the lost production time incurred when a filter has to be re-clothed or when the dewaxed oil quality does not meet product specification. [Pg.49]

Scraper-Discharge Filter The filter medium is usually caulked into grooves in the drum grid, with cake removal facihtated by a scraper blade just prior to the resubmergence of the drum (Fig. 18-122). The scraper selves mainly as a deflector to direcl the cake, dislodged by an... [Pg.1714]

A vertically arranged rotor system consisting of protruding arms revolves within a cylindrical chamber fitted with stationary deflector protrusions. The combination of the movable rotor and static protrusions effectively mix the diced rubber feed and solvent by turbulent flow. It is usual to have at least three speed possibilities and thus lump-free preparation of the product is possible in relatively short mixing times. Mixing times for these machines is considerably less than for the Z-blade mixer. [Pg.197]
