Deceleration field

In an electron-excited X-ray spectrum the discrete X-ray lines are superimposed on a continuous background this is the well-known bremsstrahlung continuum ranging from 0 to the primary energy Eq of the electrons. The reason for this continuum is that because of the fundamental laws of electrodynamics, electrons emit X-rays when they are decelerated in the Coulomb field of an atom. As a result the upper energy limit of X-ray quanta is identical with the primary electron energy. [Pg.196]

When a wire rope is operated close to the minimum design factor, the rope and related equipment should be in good operating condition. At all times, the operating personnel should minimize shock, impact, and acceleration or deceleration of loads. Successful field operations indicate that the following design factors should be regarded as minimum ... [Pg.584]

While reviewing the operation of measuring and transformation devices based on distributed potential structures utilizing the decelerating (reflective) and accelerating field areas (fig. 4), the problem of its operation... [Pg.153]

The compressed air introduced from the atmosphere through the air-intake is termed ram air , and the associated pressure is termed ram pressure . Ram pressure is built-up when the airflow velocity is decelerated in flow fields. The air-intake is designed as an aerodynamic tool to obtain maximum ram pressure.lh Air-intakes are designed to decelerate supersonic flow to subsonic flow by the formation of shock waves in front of them. The combustor in which the fuel gas is burned with the ram air is termed a ramburner . [Pg.440]

Dunkle notes (Ref 15) that one of the recent works described a deceleration of the detonation wave in oxy-acetylene mixtures by crossed electric and magnetic fields, which makes an interesting comparison with the acceleration of the shock wave in argon electrically as reported by R.M. Parrick ... [Pg.263]
