Davidson studies

Cullen and Davidson ) studied the absorption of carbon dioxide into a laminar jet of water. When the water issued with a uniform velocity over the cross-section, the measured rate of absorption corresponded closely with the theoretical value. When the velocity profile in the water was parabolic, the measured rate was lower than the calculated value this was attributed to a hydrodynamic entry effect. 

In the course of investigating the eifect of various third bodies on the rate of iodine atom recombination, Engleman and Davidson studied the nitric oxide-iodine atom system by flash photolysis. Bubble Dynamics. To adequately describe the jet, the bubble size generated by the jet needs to be studied. A substantial amount of gas leaks from the bubble, to the emulsion phase during bubble formation stage, particularly when the bed is less than minimally fluidized. A model developed on the basis of this mechanism predicted the experimental bubble diameter well when the experimental bubble frequency was used as an input. The experimentally observed bubble frequency is smaller by a factor of 3 to 5 than that calculated from the Davidson and Harrison model (1963), which assumed no net gas interchange between the bubble and the emulsion phase. This discrepancy is due primarily to the extensive bubble coalescence above the jet nozzle and the assumption that no gas leaks from the bubble phase. 

Other pendant arm systems. Many other pendant arm crowns have been synthesized - one system studied in some detail is given by (183) where R is a range of aliphatic derivatives incorporating further oxygen donors (Masuyama, Nakatsuji, Ikeda Okahara, 1981 Kaifer et al., 1982 Davidson et al., 1984). 

For A/ i 4o and a-synuclein, physicochemical studies documented that the interaction with a membrane was dependent on the presence of acidic lipids and involved a conformational change of the peptide yielding an increase in its a-helical content (Davidson et al., 1998 Hertel et al., 1997 Terzi et al., 1995, 1997).
