Data collection soil mapping

The p-SXRF maps collected on the surface and subsurface soils are presented in Figures 8.9 and 8.10, respectively. The colored scale bar at the right of each panel represents the relative concentrations of the elements. The absolute concentrations of the elements cannot be directly compared, but one is able to get a sense of the relative concentrations of an element within its own map. The surface soil displays a strong correlation between Zn and Fe in concentrated spots throughout the sample, similar to the EMPA results (Figure 8.2).
