Daptomycin adverse effects

The UK manufacturers note that NSAIDs (including coxibs) may reduce the renal excretion of daptomycin and have additive detrimental effects on renal function if used with daptomycin. They advise caution on concurrent use, which in practice probably means keeping a close eye on renal function and monitoring for possible daptomycin adverse effects. 

Daptomycin may have adverse effects on skeletal muscle, since it increases serum creatine kinase activity. To find the dosing regimen that has the least effects on skeletal muscle, dogs were given repeated intravenous daptomycin every 24 hours or every 8 hours for 20 days (4). The results suggested that adverse effects on skeletal muscle are primarily related to dosing frequency but not peak plasma concentrations, and once-daUy administration appeared... 

Daptomycin can give quite a few adverse reactions. The primary toxicities associated with daptomycin use are myopathies. Significant rates of cardiovascular, central nervous system, dermatological, gastrointestinal and hematological side effects have also been reported.
