Drosophila melanogaster (Oregon R), Drosophila simulans (st pe), Drosophila mauritiana (wild type), Ceratitis capitata (Mediterranean fruit fly or Medfly), Dacus cucurbitae (melon fly), and Dacus dorsalis (Oriental fruit fly) were cultured by standard methods.
