Fenoldopam (76) is an antihypertensive renal vasodilator apparently operating through the dopamine system. It is conceptually similar to trepipam. Fenoldopam is superior to dopamine itself because of its oral activity and selectivity for dopamine D-1 receptors (D-2 receptors are as.sociated with emesis). It is synthesized by reduction of 3,4-dimethoxyphenylacetonitrile (70) to dimethoxyphenethylamine (71). Attack of diis last on 4-methoxystyrene oxide (72) leads to the product of attack on the epoxide on the less hindered side (73). Ring closure with strong acid leads to substituted benzazepine 74. O-Dealkylation is accomplished with boron tribromide and the catechol moiety is oxidized to the ortho-quinone 75. Treatment with 9NHC1 results in conjugate (1,6) chloride addition and the formation of fenoldopam (76) [20,21]. [Pg.147]

In an analogous reaction the catechol titanate 2136 is converted by TMSOTf 20, via 2137, to give the bis-(trimethylsilyl)ester 2138, which eliminates HMDSO 7 to regenerate 2136 [65] (Scheme 13.18). The intermediate compound 2137 apparently serves as catalyst for the reaction of l-0-trimethylsilyl-2,3,5-tri-0-benzyl-D-arabino-furanose with O-silylated alcohols to afford mainly the l-/ -arabinofuranosides. [Pg.317]

The partial dechlorination of chlorinated anilines has been examined in anaerobic slurries, which has already been noted (Kuhn et al. 1990), while D. hafniense (frappieri) strain PCP-1 is able to dechlorinate a wide range of polychlorinated aromatic substrates including phenols, catechols, anilines, pentachloronitrobenzene, and pentachloropyridine (Dennie et al. 1998). Both pentachloro-aniline and 2,3,5,6-tetrachloroaniline were partially dechlorinated to dichloroanilines, although the orientation of the substituents was unresoved. The kinetics of dechlorination of pentachloroaniline have been described (Tas et al. 2006). [Pg.490]

The metabolites identified [327] for each of these pathways are collected in Table 15 and once again, it should be emphasized that only the last two, catechol/anthranilate and coumarin pathways (named c and d, in Fig. 23) yield denitrogenated products. In summary, the four metabolic pathways identified for quinoline transformation, as shown in Fig. 23, are ... [Pg.159]
