Curcumin analogs biological activities

Lin L, Lee KH. Structure-activity relationships of curcumin and its analogs with different biological activities. In Studies in Natural Products Chemistry, Volume 33. Ur-Rahman A, ed. Elsevier, New York, pp. 785-812. [Pg.1195]

Curcumin exhibits diverse biological activities and has numerous biological targets [2]. Various research groups have studied the SAR of curcumin and its analogs with respect to different activities. In this part of the review, the relationships between the structures of curcumin and its analogs and their targeted activities will be discussed and summarized. [Pg.788]

The major pigment in Curcuma species (Zingiberaceae family) is the yellow phenolic diarylheptanoid curcumin (Jl). Curcumin and its analogs have potent antioxidant and antiinflammatory effects, cytotoxicity against tumor cells, and antitumor-promoting activity (96). The biologic effects and targets of curcumin, as well as its possible roles in cancer prevention and therapy, have been reviewed recently (97, 98). [Pg.1184]
