Cone. This type of crucible shape (Fig. 8 c) provides an increased contact area between crucible and its counterpart on the crucible holder. Especially in the combination TG-DTA this decreases the thermal resistance and allows a better resolution of the measured DTA-effect. 

The other end of the capillary tube carries a plug type connector which allows the crucible holder to be rapidly removed and replaced. The connector is adjustable with a centering device. 

In a power compensation DSC (figure 12.3), the sample and the reference crucible holders consist of two small furnaces, As and Ar, each one equipped with a temperature sensor, Bs or Br, and a heat source, Cs or Cr. The furnaces...

In the field, a rotameter connected to the crucible holder is used to monitor flow rates each day. We recently Invested in a direct-reading rotameter with a range of 3-21 Lpm, and we anticipate better recognition of flow problems during sampling surveys.

Filter crucibles are used with a crucible holder mounted on a filtering flask (Figure 2.22). A safety bottle is connected between the flask and the aspirator. 

After completing the analysis, clean the crucibles as follows. Remove the cake of silver chloride, then place the crucibles in a beaker, put about 5 mL concentrated ammonia solution in each crucible, and cover the beaker with a watch glass. After 10 to 15 min, transfer the crucible to the crucible holder in a suction flask and wash with several portions of distilled water. If the filter plate is dark, empty and rinse...
