Cross-linking matrix

The organotin sdanolate can then react with the polydimethylsiloxane diol by either attack on the SiOC bond or by sdanolysis of the SnOC bond (193,194). Other metal catalysts include chelated salts of titanium and tetraalkoxytitanates. Formation of a cross-linked matrix involves a combination of the three steps in equations 24—26. [Pg.48]

The polymerization reaction (Figure I) is markedly influenced by the presence of trace impurities which was one of the difficulties encountered in earlier investigations. The conventional route is a melt polymerization of highly purified trimer (NPC1 ), or a mixture of trimer and a small amount of tetramer (NFCl.), sealed under vacuum in glass ampoules, at approximately 250°C. Proper selection of time and temperature is necessary to obtain II and avoid the formation of cross-linked matrix (III). [Pg.230]

The similarity of results for peptide resins in both solvents fits nicely with the estimate that this resin sample with about 50 weight % peptide should have similar swelling characteristics in the two solvents (3). In these samples we have measured the integrals of the aromatic region relative to an unenriched peptide peak, and the results are consistent with the observation of all the carbon nuclei, and hence the results are typical of all portions of the cross-linked matrix. [Pg.513]

Iwayanagi (40) recently extended this system into the mid-UV range by changing the sensitizer to an aromatic monoazide compound (4-azidochalcone). Insolubilization of this mid-UV resist does not result in a cross-linked matrix as occurs with the bisazide sensitized MRS. The primary reaction appears to be insertion of the reactive nitrene into a C-H bond on the ring, forming a secondary amine. [Pg.64]

Initially the dichromate ion absorbs light the light-activated Cr6+ species undergoes an electron-transfer reaction with the PVA matrix to form a polymer radical. These undergo further reactions to form Cr3+ and a cross-linked matrix (13). Fig. 3. Chemistry of dichromated poly(vinyl alcohol) resist. Exposure to UV light polymerizes the monomer to a cross-linked matrix and enables a negative image of the mask to be formed by solvent development. [Pg.23]

Novel iron carbonyl monomer, r)4-(2,4-hexadien-l-yl acrylate)tricarbonyl-iron, 23, was prepared and both homopolymerized and copolymerized with acrylonitrile, vinyl acetate, styrene, and methyl methacrylate using AIBN initiation in benzene.70,71 72 The reactivity ratios obtained demonstrated that 23 was a more active acrylate than ferrocenylmethyl acrylate, 2. The thermal decomposition of the soluble homopolymer in air at 200°C led to the formation of Fe203 particles within a cross-linked matrix. This monomer raised the glass transition temperatures of the copolymers.70 The T)4-(diene)tricarbonyliron functions of 23 in styrene copolymers were converted in high yields to TT-allyltetracarbonyliron cations in the presence of HBF4 and CO.71 Exposure to nucleophiles gave 1,4-addition products of the diene group.71... [Pg.10]

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to study the morphology of the cross-linked matrix and to determine the size of the rubber domains. Specimens were microtomed and exposed to osmium tetroxide vapor to stain the rubber-rich portions of the network. The fracture surfaces of specimens were coated with gold and examined with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). [Pg.144]
