Only with the development of personal computers was I able to understand the way that the timewave describes the ebb and flow of novelty in time over many different spans of time some last scant minutes, others endure for centuries. Now anyone who becomes operationally familiar with the theory can join me in this intellectual adventure and see for themselves the immense challenge involved in predicting a concrescence. I have not been content to merely understand the theory I have continued efforts to apply it specifically to predicting the course of future events. If over years of study one becomes convinced that the wave does... [Pg.136]

Finally, the students answering the questionnaire considered, almost unanimously, that the implemented learning model also led to the development of skills and knowledge other than the formal course contents (Q16). Some questions were also introduced about the projects added value to the students preparation for future engineering work. It was somehow shared among students that this model has advantages in their preparation for real life and for their future role as civil engineers (Q17). [Pg.306]

Our plans for the future include replication of the experiment with other group of students and other courses. Developing course content for computing subjects like data structures, C language, and JAVA in the IGL model is one of our major goals. Finally, this project aims to develop and revise more IGL activities and extend and adapt them for courses and faculty at other instimtions. [Pg.304]

The course mainly focuses on developing the student s ability to analyze the electronics systans in present-day automobiles and their specific requiranents to become acquainted with the new appUcations that are being developed for future automobiles. To cater to these objectives, the course contents were framed by considering the inputs of various automotive industries like KPIT Cummins, RBEI, and ARM Limited. The contents included both the basic topics like automotive mechanical systems and advanced topics like automotive communication protocols and automotive open system architecture (AUTOSAR) with the equal weightage to hardware and software concepts. [Pg.440]

Two lines of inquiry will be important in future work in photochemistry. First, both the traditional and the new methods for studying photochemical processes will continue to be used to obtain information about the subtle ways in which the character of the excited state and the molecular dynamics defines the course of a reaction. Second, there will be extension and elaboration of recent work that has provided a first stage in the development of methods to control, at the level of the molecular dynamics, the ratio of products formed in a branching chemical reaction. These control methods are based on exploitation of quantum interference effects. One scheme achieves control over the ratio of products by manipulating the phase difference between two excitation pathways between the same initial and final states. Another scheme achieves control over the ratio of products by manipulating the time interval between two pulses that connect various states of the molecule. These schemes are special cases of a general methodology that determines the pulse duration and spectral content that maximizes the yield of a desired product. Experimental verifications of the first two schemes mentioned have been reported. Consequently, it is appropriate to state that control of quantum many-body dynamics is both in principle possible and is... [Pg.891]
