Coupling interface

The most common interfaces for MS coupling to cSFC and pSFC are given in Table 7.37. There is no universal, ideal SFC-MS interface. Mobile-phase-eliminating and direct-coupling interfaces are compared in Table 7.38. [Pg.480]

Here it suffices to say that the coupling interface between the finite element mesh and the atomic coordinates in the molecular dynamics is accomplished through resolving the near part of the finite element mesh on the atomic coordinates. On either side of the interface, the atoms and the finite element mesh overlap. Finite element cells that intersect the interface and atoms that interact across the interface each contribute to the Hamiltonian at half strength. See Rudd and Broughton (1998) for further discussion of the relationship between molecular dynamics and finite element methods. [Pg.202]

The MMW electrical properties of the cavity and the oscillator at resonance are effectively fixed in their manufacture. This treatment addresses the coupling between those two circuit elements to achieve optimal performance. It considers only the circuits at resonance that is, under the working condition of the spectrometer. Recall that the capacitive and inductive reactances in a tuned circuit at resonance cancel each other yielding a purely resistive circuit element. Nonetheless the reactances both still remain and are manifest in the property Q. The treatment will yield the reflection coefficient p of the coupling interface between the cavity and oscillator in terms of their gs and the mutual inductance coupling coefficient M of the impedance transformer that the interface represents. Optimum performance will be when the two circuit elements are critically coupled to each other and that will be shown to occur when p = 0. [Pg.29]

The power cable and the connecting interface cable from the salinometer s digital output to a personal computer may act as antennae. Shielded power and data cables should therefore be used. Computers should be de-coupled electrically from the salinometer and therefore communicate with the salinometer through opto-coupling interfaces only. [Pg.54]

The schematic diffusion profile in Figure 5.13 shows these concentration parameters as well as concentration profiles at times t = 0 and t > 0. Please note that at t = 0, the jc = 0 position is taken as the initial diffusion couple interface, whereas Cj is the impurity concentration for x < 0, and Cj is the impurity content for x > 0. [Pg.163]

The use of thermally conductive adhesives in electrical/electronic assemblies has been described [36,38]. In these applications, temperature rises due to evolution of heat from components including resistors, transformers, etc. in high-density circuits is often critical and a cause for concern. Heat sinks and fans are mechanical means that are used to keep the temperature of the electronics at a minimum, but materials also play a critical role. Materials are used to couple the electronics and heat sinks or fan sinks, as well as to couple interfaces with lids, baseplates, and heat spreaders. [Pg.104]
