An epidemic of bullous irritant dermatitis (and one with erythema multiforme) was seen in 14 farm workers whose work included pulling weeds (chiefly Anthemis cotula) in a field of sugar beets [146]. The eruption began the second day in which they worked in the specific field and manifested as erythematous macules to blisters on the lower legs, wrists, forearms and abdomen. One patient experienced erythema multiforme. This parallels the report of a single case in 1921 [147]. The weed gets its name from its tendency to bloom in May in many geographic locations. [Pg.745]
