COSMIC software

COSMIC software NASA s software catalog, via the University of Georgia, Computer Software Management and Information Center. It has over 1,300 programs, including programs on management procedures, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, heat transfer, fluid flow, and so on. See computer software. 

Many of the aforementioned features are combined in integrated molecular modeling software such as SYBYL, Chem-X, COSMIC,80 Quanta and CHARMm, BIOGRAF, Insight and Discover, Chemlab, and MOLIDEA. These packages are available on a variety of hardware platforms ranging from personal computers (PCs) to mainframe computers.

Mimic (1.0), and ChemSD Plus (3.0) software, in addition to the abilities of their force fields [TRIPOS, COSMIC, MMX, MM2(87), and MM2, respectively] to reproduce experimental conformational energies. This comparison comprised a series of 31 molecules and their corresponding conformational energy data. In this test, MM2(87) and the two MM2-based methods (MMX and MM2 ) were clearly superior to the TRIPOS and COSMIC force fields. The rms deviations for the MM2 methods were 0.32-0.37 kcal/mol, whereas the corresponding values for the TRIPOS and COSMIC force fields were 0.90 and 0.93 kcal/mol, respectively. 

Many such software packages are available. We have programs from commercial (CHEMX, Molecular Design Ltd), industrial (COSMIC, Dr. J. G. Vinter of Smith, Kline and French) and academic (MACROMODEL, Dr. Clark Still, Columbia University) sources.
