Wire-Mesh Pallets. These pallets use galvanized or painted steel or alnminum deck sections with formed, corrugated support structures and are nsed where dnrability and hght weight are required. The wire-mesh pallet, like the corrugated-metal pallets, are often incorporated as bases in wire-mesh containers. 

NOTE Corrugation of self-supporting furnaces (as found in some SM boiler designs) is one method of resisting the compressive forces in FT boilers. Rings, flanges, and stays are also used. 

Subsequently, Mitchell s group in Vancouver, by means of a tensor-LEED study17 of the Cu (110)-(2 x 3)N surface structure, supported a reconstruction model in which the topmost layer is described as a pseudo-(100)-c(2 x 2)N overlayer with metal corrugation of about 0.52 A in the reconstructed layer. Each nitrogen adatom is almost coplanar with the local plane formed by the four neighbouring copper atoms. Of the four N atoms present in the unit mesh, three are also bonded to Cu atoms in the layer below and therefore are five coordinate. 

As we have seen in the previous chapter, the apparent topography and corrugation of thin oxide films as imaged by STM may vary drastically as a function of the sample bias. This will of course play an important role in the determination of cluster sizes with STM, which will be discussed in the following section. The determination of the size of the metallic nanoparticles on oxide films is a crucial issue in the investigation of model catalysts since the reactivity of the particles may be closely related to their size. Therefore, the investigation of reactions on model catalysts calls for a precise determination of the particle size. If the sizes of the metal particles on an oxidic support are measured by STM, two different effects, which distort the size measurement, have to be taken into account.

A number of flat membranes are stacked with appropriate supporters (spacers) between the membranes, making alternate channels for the feed (retentate) and the permeate. Meshes, corrugated spacers, porous plates, grooved plates, and so on, can be used as supporters. Ihe channels for feed distribution and permeate collection are built into the device. Rectangular or square membrane sheets are common, but some modules use round membrane sheets. 

To avoid such flooding, the designer uses the corrugated bed support shown in Fig. 7.8. This grid will have over 100 percent open area. Crushed packing laying on even this excellent type of bed support can, however, cause flooding. 

In experimental work at the Texas Electric laboratory this relationship has been established (1). The work reported applied to fluids in turbulent flow and hence to relatively high velocities. Since that time the studies have been extended to lower velocities. To support thin membranes, a pierced, corrugated material was placed in the streams with the corrugations in the direction of flow, in a manner to cause the smallest pressure drop this obstruction induced strong mixing and simulated turbu-... 

Monolith is now one of the most widespread form of catalysts. Monoliths are formed by extrusion through special dies creating multiple channels. (A variant in monolith manufacture uses corrugated foils of the support which are joined together to create channels).
