Power supplies, corona

Among the types of equipment built were the inductor-alternator with step-up transformer and parallel-resonant tuned circuit, the SCR inverter with step-up transformer, and the mobile vacuum tube high power-amplifier. In the discussion of this equipment which follows, it is intended only to consider some of the major components of a corona power supply and to outline to the chemist and the chemical engineer a general approach to audiofrequency power generation. Without the full details of a particular application, it is impossible to select the most... [Pg.369]

Control devices and instrumentation for a corona power supply based on rotating equipment includes at least the following ... [Pg.371]

There are two types of corona assemblies, those that contain a corona wire and those that contain a corona roller. The corona wire is a small diameter wire that is charged by the high-voltage power supply. The wire is located in a special notch in the floor of the laser printer (underneath the EP print cartridge). The corona roller performs the same function as the corona wire, except that it s a roller rather than a wire. Because the corona roller is directly in contact with the paper, it supports higher speeds. It is for this reason that the corona wire isn t used in laser printers much any more. [Pg.278]

A. The high-voltage power supply is the part of both EP process and HP LaserJet process printers that supplies the voltages for the charge and transfer corona assemblies. [Pg.299]

The procedure used was to spread 10-20 mg of powder as evenly as possible over about 1 cm near the periphery of the turntable, and after turning on the turntable motor, power supply, and electrometer and recorder, to raise the voltage until a corona discharge occurred. When a steady-state charge was reached, the power supply was turned off and the decay followed by the electrometer and recorder. Figure 7 shows a typical record for lead azide, lead styphnate, and tetracene. [Pg.104]

The ratings for the basic electrical components are dependent upon the characteristics of the corona reactor and the impedance load which it represents to the power supply. Corona reactor values which affect these ratings are ... [Pg.369]

The corona reactor represents a capacitive load on the major items of the power supply equipment, up to the time of corona initiation. Since this generally results in a poor power factor, there are two possible means of solution ... [Pg.370]

Power delivered by the tetrodes to the output transformer, and thence to the corona reactor load, is controlled by the oscillator and the variable autotransformer in the tetrode plate power supply. The autotransformer control keeps the total power consumed by the equipment during an experiment as low as possible, to minimize heat developed in the cabinet and to extend tube life. [Pg.374]

The corona reactor or cell represents a capacitive load to the power supply equipment up to the time of initiation of the electrical discharge. [Pg.374]

P = Corona power in watts f = Power supply frequency in cycles /second Cb = Dielectric barrier capacitance CgaS = Capacitance of corona cell gas gap Ct = Total corona cell capacitance... [Pg.376]

A high voltage power supply is attached to the spray gun in a corona charging system. These power supplies provide an adjustable voltage (typically... [Pg.287]
