Coordinated Management of Meaning

A rarely-used but comprehensive conceptual scheme to describe cultural contacts and exchange is the coordinated management of meaning (CMM) approach (Cronen Shuter, 1983). CMM theory argues that for effective well-managed communication there are six elements to be considered these are described and defined in Table 5.4.
