Coevolution is at work for pathogens and hosts as well as it is for cooperation among BU (see Section 6.16). When hosts develop better defenses, pathogens usually develop means to overcome the defenses. Biologists have named this the Red Queen Principle, after Lewis Carroll s Red Queen.
