When building conversion factors for units raised to a power, remember to raise both the number and the unit to the power. For example, to convert from in to cm, we construct the conversion factor as follows ... 

Since in most cases it is preferable to use SI units, especially for dynamics problems, the conversion factors are listed to convert English units by multiplying by the listed conversion factor to SI units. Obviously, to convert from SI units to English, one just has to divide the SI value by the conversion factor. The English to SI conversion factors for units of interest are listed in Table A.l. In addition, there are some conversions that are of interest due to their historical use in polymers and mechanics that are listed in Table A.2.
