Continuous heating mode

Though DSC is a very well adapted technique to measure heat capacity [52], only one procedure has been essentially developed using a continuous heating mode for solid samples. In this chapter, another procedure is described using a step heating mode. [Pg.67]

Regeneration of high acid concentrations from sulfuric acid, which has been only diluted by water, such as obtained from air or other gas drying functions, can be accomplished by boiling water in either a batch (pot) or continuous (heat exchanger) mode [63]. It will be worthwhile to compare the efficiency of the pulsed trickle bed reactor with that of a trickle bed reactor in the gas continuous flow mode and with a monolith reactor. Based on its good heat and mass transfer characteristics the suggestion is that for reaction with a relatively small adiabatic temperature rise and a low reaction rate the trickle bed reactor in the gas continuous mode can be used. Experimental The experiments by L vov and Ugolkov [55] were performed with an STA 429 thermal analyser using high-purity powders prepared in a laboratory by precipitation of Be, Sr, Ba, Zn, and Cd hydroxides from aqueous solutions and commercial hydroxides of Ca and Mg. The compositions of all the samples were preliminarily checked by their decomposition in the dynamic heating mode. The sample mass was 20 mg for Be(OH)2, 40 mg for Mg(OH)2, and 30 mg for all the other hydroxides.
