Containers protection against micro-organisms

A tube is a container for multiple doses of semisolid preparations. It consists of compressible material that is squeezed to release the contents via an orifice [26]. A preparation is better protected against micro-organisms in a tube than in a jar. This is because when removing the product from a tube a smaller surface can get contaminated by the user. If microbiological contamination has occurred the circumstances in which further microbiological growth can occur are less favourable in a tube than in a jar [36]. This is mainly because there is less oxygen available in a tube than in ajar. [Pg.523]

Medicinal plant materials should be stored in separate areas. The storage area should be well ventilated and equipped in such a way as to protect against the entry of insects or other animals, especially rodents. Effective measures should be taken to limit the spread of animals and micro-organisms introduced with the plant material and to prevent cross-contamination. Containers should be located in such a way as to allow free air circulation. [Pg.115]

In combination with a full-face mask, their use is possible in a contaminated atmosphere containing up to 1000 times the OEL, but with a half mask up to 100 times the OEL only. If the requirements according to EN 269 [6-83] are fulfilled, a fresh-air helmet or hood can be used up to 100 times the OEL. If warning devices indicating weakness or breakdown of the air supply are not present, the use of air line respirators is not allowed for protection against carcinogens, very toxic or radioactive substances, or micro-organisms and enzymes (see Table 6.29). [Pg.248]
