Constant Attendance Allowance

Constant Attendance Allowance (CAA) - A person in receipt of IIDB who is in need of daily care and attention and where the disablement is assessed at 100% may be entitled to CAA. This is a non-contributory benefit, is not income related and is currently paid at four levels. [Pg.147]

One way to do this is to use pressurized enclosures for electrical components. They maintain a slightly higher pressure inside than the atmosphere outside them, so if a leak does occur in the enclosure, it will vent outward and will not allow a flammable hydrogen and air mixture to go inside. If the pressure inside falls below a certain point, an alert occurs and the system is shut down. This can be done in different ways depending on the circumstances. Most systems have an audio alert as well as a visual indicator such as a blinking LED. In addition to this, upon loss of pressure a circuit will immediately disengage the power supply to any circuits and electrical devices within the enclosure, and the system will be shut down automatically. If you have an experimental device that is constantly attended while in the operation, a simple cutoff switch that is operator activated and approved for hazardous atmospheres will suffice. [Pg.34]

These should not be allowed in the hazardous area and in particular petrol-driven sump pumps and other contractors tools, liable to be left running without the constant attendance of an operator, should be banned. [Pg.127]

The over-riding significance of gas-phase measurements is that in the gaseous state the contributions of electrostatic and even of London dispersion forces can be reasonably estimated this allows of more significant comparison with the observed AH values. At this point it may be appropriate to emphasize the variation in AH with the medium in which it is observed. If the free energy increase (AG) attending the dissociation of the dimer were to vary with the dielectric constant (D) according to... [Pg.394]

The reaction now proceeds slowly at atmospheric temperature constant volume is preserved by attending to the level of mercury in the cylinder. The concentration of the cyanic acid present at any moment is calculated from the pressure corresponding to a fixed volume, the mercury in the cylinder being allowed to flow out (by a tap not shown Pig. 61. in the figure) till the mercury level below b reaches a mark on the apparatus. When the velocity of reaction has been found, the volume of the gas is doubled by opening the tap between A and b, and the velocity again determined. [Pg.199]
