Conformity to the group

To Asch s surprise, 37 of the 50 subjects confonned wrongly to the majority at least once, and 14 subjects conformed on half or more of the 12 incorrect trials. Other experiments have confirmed the confonnity result, but people go along with the group for one of two reasons They want to be liked by the group or because they believe the group is better informed.

Consider a particular business or engineering scandal in the media and analyze whether the wrongdoing was intentional or not, and whether it involved self-interest, obedience to authority, or conformity to the group. Being as specific as possible, write a short essay identifying the key parties to the scandal, their roles in perpetrating the scandal, whether or not their actions appeared conscious or unintended, and the role of self-interest, obedience, or conformity to the sequence of events.

Lamination Inks. This class of ink is a specialized group. In addition to conforming to the constraints described for flexo and gravure inks, these inks must not interfere with the bond formed when two or more films, eg, polypropylene and polyethylene, are joined with the use of an adhesive in order to obtain a stmcture that provides resistance properties not found in a single film. Laminations are commonly used for food applications such as candy and food wrappers. Resins used to make this type of ink caimot, therefore, exhibit any tendency to retain solvent vapor after the print has dried. Residual solvent would contaminate the packaged product making the product unsalable. 

A database management system (DBMS) is used by most LIMS systems for storing data. Examples of commercially available DBMS are DB2, DBASE, Informix, INGRES, ORACLE, and RDB. AH of these DBMS conform to the "relational" model developed by Codd (19). Eigure 3 demonstrates the use of a relational DBMS for storing LIMS data. Here data is grouped by type so customer and analysis requests are stored separately from sets of sample information which are, in turn, stored separately from sets of analysis results.
