Computational research

There are numerous articles and references on computational research studies. If none exist for the task at hand, the researcher may have to guess which method to use based on its assumptions. It is then prudent to perform a short study to verify the method s accuracy before applying it to an unknown. When an expert predicts an error or best method without the benefit of prior related research, he or she should have a fair amount of knowledge about available options A savvy researcher must know the merits and drawbacks of various methods and software packages in order to make an informed choice. The bibliography at the end of this chapter lists sources for reviewing accuracy data. Appendix A of this book provides short reviews of many software packages. 

Experimental research has shown that a vapor cloud explosion can be described as a process of combustion-driven expansion flow with the turbulent structure of the flow acting as a positive feedback mechanism. Combustion, turbulence, and gas dynamics in this complicated process are closely interrelated. Computational research has explored the theoretical relations among burning speed, flame speed, combustion rates, geometry, and gas dynamics in gas explosions.

In this research study an ordered, mesoporous hybrid organosilica material incorporating a biphei rl moiety was fabricated. The polymerization process was surfactant-mediated to ensure uniform pore pattern and narrow pore size distribution. Interaction-induced absorption by the vibrational or rotational motion of an atom, ion, or molecule trapped within a Ceo cage, so-called endohedral buckmin-sterfullerene, has excited considerable interest, especially in astrophysics. The induced bands of such species are unusual in the sense that they are discrete, not continuous they may also be quite intense [127]. Other carbon structures, such as endohedral carbon nanotubes, giant fullerenes, etc., should have similar induced band spectra [128], but current theoretical and computational research is very much in flux while little seems to be presently known from actual spectroscopic measurements of such induced bands.
