Computational modeling network

It appears that a loose interpretation of this type may be the origin of a discrenancy found by Otanl and Smith [59] in attempting to apply effective diffusivities from Wakao and Smith s [32] isobaric diffusion data to measurements on a chemically reacting system. This was pointed out by Steisel and Butt [60], and further pursued to the point of detailed computer modeling of a particular pore network by Wakao and Nardse [61]. [Pg.104]

Using the computer, the network of Figure 1 is then elongated at a constant rate % and at temperature T along the y-axis. Upon deformation, the following processes are allowed for in the model ... [Pg.115]

We have already met one tool that can be used to investigate the links that exist among data items. When the features of a pattern, such as the infrared absorption spectrum of a sample, and information about the class to which it belongs, such as the presence in the molecule of a particular functional group, are known, feedforward neural networks can create a computational model that allows the class to be predicted from the spectrum. These networks might be effective tools to predict suitable protective glove material from a knowledge of molecular structure, but they cannot be used if the classes to which samples in the database are unknown because, in that case, a conventional neural network cannot be trained. [Pg.53]

ANN is an interconnected group of artiLcial neurons that use a mathematical or computational model for information processing on the basis of a connectionist approach for computation. It is an adaptive system that changes its structure on the basis of external or internal information that Lows through the network, as shown in Figure 3.4. [Pg.54]
