Compressors, centrifugal Couplings

All operations are automatic, even to the opening and closing of valves. Air is supplied by a centrifugal multistage compressor directly coupled to a gas turbine. Compressed air (350 F) at 60 lb gauge pressure is preheated to 700 to 800 F and admitted to the chambers. The flue gases... [Pg.800]

The gas turbine in the simple cycle mode consists of a compressor (axial or centrifugal) that compresses the air, a combustor that heats the air at constant pressure and a turbine that expands the high pressure and high temperature combustion gases and produces power to run the compressor and through a mechanical coupling to the driven equipment. The power required to compress the gases varies from about 40-60 percent of the total power produced by the turbine. [Pg.2507]

Separately driven centrifugal compressors are adaptable to low-pressure cryogenic systems because they can be coupled directly to steam turbine drives, are less critical from the standpoint of foundation design criteria, and lend themselves to gas turbine or combined cycle applications. Isentropic efficiencies of 80 to 85% are usually obtained. [Pg.183]

Some centrifugal compressors use a high-speed gear-type coupling. How is this type of gear attached to the compressor shaft ... [Pg.47]

High-speed gear-type coupling for motor-to-centrifugal compressor connections are typically lubricated by ... [Pg.48]
