Compounding ancillary equipment

There are many manufacturers (over 50) of twin screw compounders. These manufacturers offer a variety of ancillary equipment such as loss-in-weight feeders, twin screw side feeders, vent staffers, screw segment disassembly units, screen changers, etc. There are many different screw and barrel materials available with special wear and/or corrosion-resistant characteristics. This is important because TSEs are often used with abrasive and corrosive materials. 

Machinery used to prepare particulate-filled polymer composites may be classified in terms of the applied shear intensity and whether the operation is of a batch or continuous nature. Furthermore, most compounding processes are critically dependent on the efficiency of ancillary equipment to undertake various functions, including additive and polymer feeding, melt filtration and pelletising procedures. 

Procedures for the identification of compounds by GC constitute a very broad and varied discipline. There are many possibilities in this respect, and the proper choice in a particular instance is dependent on the nature of the problem and the equipment available. Basically, GC is a separation method, but its very high separation efficiency confers upon retention characteristics a significant identification virtue and greatly facilitates the use of various ancillary identification techniques.
