Storage stability composite resins

A mixture of inhibitors is commonly employed for the styrene diluent in order to obtain a balance of properties in respect of color, storage stability, and gelation rate of catalyzed resin. Thus, a typical composition of the diluent based on the above polyester formulation would be styrene 172 parts, benzyltrimethylammonium chloride 0.44 part, hydroquinone 0.06 part, and quinone 0.006 part. After cooling to the ambient temperature, the resin is transferred into drums for storage and shipping. [Pg.442]

A monomer preemulsion, used for miniemulsion polymerisation, was prepared by stirring a mixture of epoxy resin, acrylic monomers, surfactants, costabiliser and water. Miniemulsion polymerisation produced the composite latex. Methacrylic acid and/or dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate were added to introduce the functional groups into the composite latices. The functional groups were introduced either by batch polymerisation or two-stage polymerisation, the latex produced by the two-stage polymerisation method had good polymerisation stability, storage stability and solvent resistance. 11 refs. [Pg.57]

Despite the development of a vast variety of other synthetic resins, alkyd resins have remained a large fraction of the resins for the paint industry because of a number of reasons. They are a single-pack system with excellent storage stability they are relatively inexpensive as well as soluble in inexpensive solvents they are versatile and can be engineered for a wide variety of properties ranging from hard, fast-drying compositions to softer, more fie-... [Pg.44]

The improved thermal stability of EPN-based thermosets is useful in elevated temperature services, such as aerospace composites. Filament-woimd pipe and storage tanks, liners for pumps and other chemical process equipment, and corrosion-resistant coatings are typical applications which take advantage of the chemical resistant properties of EPN resins. However, the high cross-link density of EPN-based thermosets can result in increased brittleness and reduced toughness. [Pg.2677]
