The carbene mechanism of COER according to our hypothesis consists of forward (Z = O, X = Y = C) and backward (X = O, Y = Z = O) Wittig-like reactions. A transition metal-carbene complex reacts with a carbonyl compound generating an olefin and transition metal oxo-complex. Then the oxo-complex reacts with another olefin generating a new carbonyl compound and regenerating the transition metal-carbene complex. It is known that oxo-alkylidene complexes can be generated via oxidative addition reaction between some tungsten complexes with carbonyl compounds. [Pg.468]

The validity of this approach can be demonstrated by the example of several complex fluoride compounds that exhibit ferroelectric properties, such as compounds that belong to the SrAlF5 family [402, 403]. The crystal structure of the compounds is made up of chains of fluoroaluminate octahedrons that are separated by another type of chains - ramified chains. Other examples are the compounds Sr3Fe2Fi2 and PbsWjOgFio. In this case, the chains of iron- or tungsten-containing octahedrons are separated from one another by isolated complexes with an octahedral configuration [423,424]. [Pg.232]

Anchored organometallic complexes of tungsten were prepared by the interaction of W(C4H7)4 with surface OH groups, and the resulting surface species play a role as precursors for the synthesis of different surface tungsten compounds (Scheme 7.11).231... [Pg.268]

Mixed Metal Complexes. In contrast to the reaction producing [Fe5C(CO)j4 ] discussed above, treatment of Fe2(CO)g with [(jr-Cp)Mo(CO)3] at room temperature in THF yields [(7r-Cp)2Mo2Fe2(CO),Q] , for which structure (17) is suggested on the basis of i.r. data. The analogous tungsten compound has also been isolated, but no hydrides were isolated upon acidification. ... [Pg.198]

Methyl benzoate, anisole, and diphenyl ether each give sandwich compounds with chromium vapor, although in rather low yield (32, 55, 110). Chromium appears to attack alkyl ethers and this deoxygenation probably competes with complexation with the aromatic oxygen compounds. No simple product has been isolated from chromium atoms and aniline, but bis(7V,7V-dimethylaniline)chromium has been prepared (32). The behavior of molybdenum and tungsten vapors closely resembles that of chromium in reactions with oxygen- and nitrogen-substituted arenes (113). [Pg.75]

Hydrazido(2-) and hydrazido(l-) complexes have also been shown to condense with aldehydes and ketones to give diazoalkane complexes containing the W=N—N=CRiR2 unit.387,388 Treatment of these complexes with LiAlFL, gives secondary amines and ammonia, whereas treatment with acid produces hydrazine, keto azines and N2-free tungsten compounds. Amines can also be produced from organohydrazido(2—) complexes.389,390... [Pg.1014]

Further developments are likely as the chemistry of the compounds described above is explored. Moreover, entirely new dimensions may be added. For example, the synthesis of tungsten-alkylidyne complexes with carba-borane ligands with cage structures smaller than the icosahedral C2B9 fragment should result in the isolation of new electronically unsaturated metal cluster and electron-deficient molecules of types as yet unknown. [Pg.88]
