Combustion Contamination

Grade C, Type II is typical of Hquid oxygen used as a rocket propellant oxidizer. Particulate content is limited because of the critical clearances found in mechanical parts of the rocket engine. In addition to water, acetylene and methane are limited because, on long standing, oxygen evaporation could cause concentration of these combustible contaminants to reach hazardous levels. [Pg.480]

Municipal and industrial incinerators Pathological incinerators Industrial waste Odors, hydrocarbons, HCl, dioxins, furans Particulates, smoke, and combustion contaminants Proper charging, acid gas scrubber, baghouse Modified fuel feed, auxiliary fuel and dryer systems, cyclones, scrubbers... [Pg.2177]

Three rapid oxidation methods are typically used to destroy combustible contaminants (1) flares (direct-fiame-combnstion), (2) thermal combustors, and (3) catalytic combustors. The thermal and flare methods are characterized by the presence of a flame during combustion. The combustion process is also commonly referred to as afterburning or incineration. ... [Pg.2187]

Hydrocarbon combustion Contaminated with other gases No 85% ca 14% CO 0.5% Oo 0.5% HaO saturated Small Simple process can use combustion products from engines or boilers, or dedicated burner less reliability of control maybe very economical used on tanker ships... [Pg.2339]

Heavy duty detergent oils usually include ashless dispersants within their formulation to keep combustion contaminants in fine suspension to prevent damage to machinery. Warning limits for the insolubles content of trunk piston engine oils vary with the oil but in some cases levels of 5% can be tolerated. When high levels of insolubles are encountered, the fuel and fuel combustion systems should be examined. [Pg.407]
