Color image enhancement

Figure l6 Scanned image of an entire trailer truck. This B/W image is typically presented as a false color image to enhance attenuation information about the contents. The imaging system is optimized to accommodate the characteristics of human visual response. 

Hitech Olympus Cue-3 is a color image analysis system with a wide range of image enhancement and processing capabilities. 

Windowing or Window/Level (W/L) transforms the original image with 16-bit color depth to an 8-bit color depth enhancing the contrast and at the same time redistributing the chosen window levels to the full 8-bit range.

Modulation contrast, like DIG, is a shearing method with the same advantages and disadvantages except that interference colors are absent with modulation contrast. The resolution, in spite of the restricted condenser aperture, is certainly not reduced. If anything, resolution seems to be improved and the images obtained have an excellent quaUty, especially in regard to contrast, one not seen with any other technique except the much more expensive video-enhanced imaging.
