Under the guidance of the hitemational Commission on Illumination (Commission Internationale de TEclairage or CIE), several color description systems and notions have been developed and have established the present procedures ... [Pg.18]

When modified, the 6T-3 toners produce less purple colors than the 6T-1 toners. All gold tone modified prints change color somewhat on drying and this cannot be avoided. The color descriptions given above apply to the dried prints. [Pg.299]

An example of the application of the CIE system for color description is shown in Figure 6-7. The curved, dotted line originating from C represents the locus of the chromaticity coordinates of caramel and glycerol solutions. The chromaticity coordinates of maple syrup and honey follow the same locus. Three triangles on this curve represent the chromaticity coordinates of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) glass color standards for... [Pg.148]

Note The Tristimulus color description is based on three axes. This allows any color perceived by the human eye to be expressed in terms of three numbers. [Pg.297]

L a b color space A method of depicting color that is uniform and recommended by the Comission Internationale d Eclairage for standard color description. L - psychometric lightness (0 = black 100 = white) a psychometric red ( +ve values), green (-ve values) b psychometric yellow (+ve values), blue (-ve values). [Pg.469]

The volume contains colorful descriptions of the various battles, expatiations on the bravery of the Muslim warriors, and portrayals of the futile negotiations between the paniesbefore the beginning of hostilities. It thus provides the reader with a faKinating insight into the later Muslim traditions related to these crucial events of early Islamic history. [Pg.2]

Whatever the system of color measurement or color description ordering in 3D space is essential. In terms of the measurements described above relative values of L, a, b are indicted in Figure 4 together with directions of increasing hue and chroma. Flowever,... [Pg.779]

In using the Centroid Colors, a Centroid number is associated with an abbreviation of the ISCC-NBS color description. This number (1-267) is entered on a computer punch card or data processing card at each of six levels of accuracy. This has been done on a commercial basis. An example of the six levels of accuracy would be Level 1, brown (Br) level 2, yellowish-brown (yBr) Level 3, light yellowish-brown (Ly Br). Level 3 accuracy is generally sufficient and has been very satisfactory in commercial applications. Levels 4-6 are much more complicated and are probably not practical for routine usage. [Pg.22]

One person has suggested that in using the Centroid Color Charts, the complex name "dark grayish reddish brown" would "immediately call to mind an image of the color." We can not do this we have not yet had an accurate visualization of this color description, rather we can visualize the very many colors this name description does not fit. We wonder what a spectroscopic analysis of a "dark grayish reddish brown" would show. [Pg.22]

Chart recorder verification of the correct color, description, and range for each channel. [Pg.537]

Calibration can then proceed using log(l/Rjt), log(l// y), and log(l// ) as the reference data. Other transformations that may be considered are those to the color-descriptive variables L a b. ... [Pg.476]

Observable Characteristics - This includes the physical state of the chemical under normal conditions of handling and shipping, its characteristic color and odor. The color description provided is that for pure liquid. The reader should recognize that occasionally the color of a chemical changes when it dissolves in water or becomes a gas. Similarly, the odor description is that for pure material. The term "characteristic" is used in those cases when no other reasonable description of the chemical s odor could be found. [Pg.18]

Color — All color descriptions found in the common reference sources are included. The color description is that for pure material. Occasionally the color of a chemical changes when it dissolves in water or becomes a gas. [Pg.24]
