Colophony glue

Adhesive Improving cohesion Colophony, gelatine, animal glue, casein... [Pg.169]

Rossd used the following composition — Ten parts of gum arable, 300 parts of gum tragacanth, 53-8 parts of potassium chlorate, 6 parts of capHi mortuum, 12 parts of pow dcred glass, parts of potassium dichromate, 3 parts of sulphur, l 2 parts of chalk or colophony, and 6 parts of manganese dioxide. The striking surface for this composition consisted of 5 parts of antimony sulphide, 3 parts of amorphous phosphorus, 1 parts of manganese dioxide, and 4 parts of glue. [Pg.465]

The resins included in the study were colophony and three formaldehyde resins. They were mainly registered in paints/lacquers, binding agents and adhesives/ glues. [Pg.458]

Colophony in soldering fluxes for electronic assemblies is a well-known cause of allergic contact dermatitis. Since the allergens can be airborne, facial dermatitis is not uncommon, in addition to hand eczema (Widstrom 1983 Liden 1984 Goh and Ng 1987 Koh et al. 1990). Paint, lacquers and glues can contain colophony, but reports of contact allergy to these... [Pg.513]

At the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) between 1974 and 1997, a total of 85 cases of allergic contact dermatitis were diagnosed in different kinds of painters, lacquerers, parquet installers and paint-factory workers. Synthetic resins caused 68 of the cases, 54 of them in paints, lacquers or raw materials of paints, 5 in floor coverings, 5 in car painters filling cements, 4 in parquet lacquers and one in a glue. The other agents included chromium, formaldehyde, cobalt, colophony, a mixture of isothi-azolinones, and rubber chemicals. No cases of type 1 sensitization to natural rubber latex were found. [Pg.668]

Polyurethane, polyester and phenol-formaldehyde resins may occur in model making, but sensitisation at the work place is rare. Allergy caused by benzoyl peroxide (hardener in polystyrol-systems) and by amine-based hardeners (model making, repair) are a little more common. Polyisocyanates and isocyanates can also be part of glues utilised in assembly for the connection of parts (interior trim) of the doors for example. If the ventilation is not sufficient, even airborne contact allergy (contact urticaria) is conceivable. Colophony allergy will be associated with solder-... [Pg.871]

Resins, especially those containing epoxy, colophony, and PTEP-FR, are used as adhesives and glues in sports equipment. Reports of contact allergy include facial dermatitis from epoxy resin glue inside a helmet (Malanin and Kalimo 1985), erythematous facial dermatitis from colophony in a bowlsgrip (Elair 1982), and a well-demarcated linear erythematous vesicular patch on the back of a leg from the PTEP-FR and/or phenol-formaldehyde resin in a knee-guard (Vincenzi et al. 1992). [Pg.1079]
