Cold, aversion

Indlcatlons Syndrome of exterior repletion shown as aversion to cold, fever, headache, nasal congestion, anhidrosis. floating and tense pulse cough edema. 

When the Defensive-Qi cannot reach the surface of the body and fails to bring warmth to the skin, one may have chills and aversion to wind and cold. 

Defensive-Qi fails to spread on superficial region of the body -aversion to wind and cold - no sweat -fever... 

This formula expels wind and eliminates dampness from the superficial part of the body and the subcutaneous region. It treats wind-dampness at the superficial level of the body and the Qi movement and blood circulation are blocked. This disorder is manifested as stiffness and pain of the neck, back and shoulders, headache, heaviness of the body, aversion to cold with mild fever, a white, slightly sticky tongue coating and a superficial pulse. 

Recurrent colds, spontaneous sweating with slight fever and aversion to wind after illness, surgery or childbirth, chronic sinusitis, allergies, and morning sickness in early pregnancy. 

Jing Jie and Fang Feng are pungent and slightly warm. They can expel wind and are commonly used for mild exterior wind-cold syndrome. In the syndrome of disharmony of Ying and Wei, they can be selected as assistants to expel wind and directly relieve aversion to wind. 

Two summers ago, 1 came down with a head cold iust as a low pressure system settled over the East Coast. The combination caused one of my ears to close up. After a day or so of constant tugging at my ear, it was becoming son . I consulted my local pharmacist, who, hearing of my aversion to antihistamines, recommended Sudafed. I had never heard of it... 

Main signs symptoms Aversion to cold, fever, headache, body aches, absence of sweat, possible wheezing, a thin, white tongue coating, and a rapid, tight pulse... 

If there is no aversion to cold, subtract Cinnamon and add raw Rhizoma Zingiberis (Sheng Jiang). This results in the formation of San Ao Tang (Three Unbindings Decoction). 

Main signs symptoms Fever, no sweating or possible perspiration which does not flow easily, slight aversion to wind cold, headache, thirst, cough, sore throat, a red tongue tip and a thin, white or thin, yellow coating, and a floating, rapid pulse... 

If there are fever and aversion to cold due to exterior patterns of summerheat and dampness, add Herba Menthae Bo He). This results in Ji Su San (Cock-waking Powder). 

For concurrent signs of an exterior patterns, such as fever and aversion to cold, add Radix Puerariae Lobatae (Ge Gen), Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis (Huang Qin), Flos Lonicerae Japonicae (Yin Hua), and Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae (Lian Qiao). 

Main signs symptoms Inversion counterflow of the four extremities, aversion to cold, sleeping with knees drawn up, nausea and vomiting, no thirst, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigued spirit, desire to sleep (all the time), a white, glossy tongue coating, and a minute, fine pulse... 

For more serious aversion to cold, add Cortex Cinnamomi (Rou Gui). 

Main signs symptoms Slight headache, aversion to cold, no sweating, cough with sticky phlegm, stuffed nose, dry throat, a white tongue coating, and a wiry pulse... 

For severe aversion to cold, add Herba Allii Fistulosi (CongBai) and Semen Praeparatum Sojae (Dan Dou... 

For exterior patterns with aversion to cold and fever, add Folium Perillae Frutescentis Su Ye), Semen Pruni Armeniacae Xing Ren), and Radix Platycodi Grandiflori Jie Geng). 

Inappropriate use of adenophora may cause headaches, weakness, apathy, aversion to cold, distended abdomen, vomiting, or delayed menstruation (Bensky et al. 2004).
