Cognitive behaviors problem-solving

The term Task Analysis (TA) can be applied very broadly to encompass a wide variety of human factors techniques. Nearly all task analysis techniques provide, as a minimum, a description of the observable aspects of operator behavior at various levels of detail, together with some indications of the structure of the task. These will be referred to as action oriented approaches. Other techniques focus on the mental processes that imderlie observable behavior, for example, decision making and problem solving. These will be referred to as cognitive approaches. 

One of the most interesting aspects of Schoenfeld s research is his focus on mathematical beliefs and their role in problem solving. He argues that students have beliefs that lie between the purely affective and the purely cognitive domains of human behavior. Included in a student s belief system are misconceptions, preconceptions, and intuitions about events in the world. These may be at odds with new, incoming instruction and may create... 

Within 1-2 h of exposure to BZ, there is mydriasis, dry mouth and skin, tachycardia, drowsiness, and after about 4 h, CNS anticholinergic effects develop, including a confusional state with delusions, hallucinations, erratic behavior pattern, and interference with cognitive functions that include problem solving, attention, and comprehension. These effects may persist for several days, during which time the subject is susceptible to injury. Memory for this period of confusion may be lost or be fragmentary. The induced delusional state makes it questionable whether BZ should be used in hostage situations. 

Cognitive type This contemporary technique is used for supervisory control and decision making. Here, the focus is on the mental process behind human observable behavior in decision making or problem solving. This also forms part of HRA.
