Cogeneration Targets

How can this trade-off be carried out quantitatively Can targets be set for cogeneration for the site Before [Pg.491]

Site composite curves can be used to represent the site heating and cooling requirements thermodynamically. This allows the analysis of thermal loads and levels on site. Using the models for steam turbines and gas turbines allows cogeneration targets for the site to be established. Steam levels can be optimized to minimize fuel consumption or maximize cogeneration. A cost trade-off needs to be carried out in order to establish the optimum trade-off between fuel requirements and cogeneration. [Pg.508]

MCFCs promise high fuel-to-electricity efficiencies, about 60% normally or 85% with cogeneration, and 10 kW to 2 MW MCFCs have been tested on a variety of fuels. MCFCs are primarily targeted to electric utility applications and they have been successfully demonstrated in Japan... [Pg.33]

The building characteristics correspond to the SIA 380/1 target value single family home described by Dorer et al. [4]. The size of the cogeneration unit corresponds to an overall full load operating time of 3962 hours per year. The (variable) efficiencies used are based on the manufacturer s technical data [5]. [Pg.327]

The representation of Total Site profiles can give a central view of the targets for fuel, turbine loads, and cooling, as it is shown in Fig. 12.25. The central cogeneration... [Pg.460]

As can be seen world records are moving targets The most recent information from October 1997 considered an SOFC world record is about Westinghouse s generation of 120 kW on their SOFC cogeneration unit [28]. [Pg.180]

At present, the electrical generation efficiency is about 33%, the operating temperature is approximately 70°C, the durability is about 20,000h, and the system cost is over several million yen per kilowatt. A first-generation system for the commercialization of stationary fuel cells will be introduced in 2009 at a target cost of 2-2.5 million per kilowatt. We think that a lower cost and improved durability are necessary for successful commercialization. A durability of more than 10 years (about 90,000 h) will be needed for home-use cogeneration PEMFC systems. A cost of below 0.4 million per kilowatt is also necessary for widespread commercialization. [Pg.458]
