As a result of the pubhcation of the hmits of the harmful substances in the form of national standards, consumers will have an authoritative reference when they address any disputes that arise from indoor decoration. Some specifications in the national standards, like those for VOCs in interior architectural coatings, conform to those standards in the European Union and the USA.

Since the polymer is molten when drawn into the nip, the surface of the coating conforms to that of the chill roll and both matt and polished rolls are used depending on the properties required of the final coating. The coated web passes around the drum and is peeled away by a secondary nip roller, edge trimmed and electronically treated if required for further processes. 

According to SEM (Figure 13.2), details on the skeletal framework remain visible, even after a bulk density increase by up to a factor of 3. The conclusion is that the skeletal silica nanoparticles have been coated conformally with polymer. This process is obviously limited by the amount of the gelation water remaining adsorbed on the skeletal framework, which in turn can be controlled to a certain extent by the number of precrosslinking washes... 

RF-MOx wet gels have been dried either in an autoclave with SCF CO2 to yield native RF-MOx aerogels or under ambient pressure and temperature to produce RF-MOx xerogels. Alternatively, the RF-MOx skeletal framework was coated conformally (crosslinked) with a polyurea (PUA) derived by polymerization of a triisocyanate (Desmodur N3300A from Bayer) in an analogous fashion to what has been described for the RF and the MOx networks...
