Coating carbonitride coatings

CVD Diamond, Diamond-Like Carbon, and Carbonitride Coatings... [Pg.331]

AI2O3 is often used to provide a ceramic material in contact with the workpiece or to apply several multilayers of the type Al203/TiN. The thicknesses of the sublayers are on the order of about 1 pm and the total layer thickness is about 10-12 pm. Such a structure is shown in Fig. 29 for the WIDIA grade TNI 50. Most of these layers are deposited by CVD. Also a combination of PVD and CVD ( duplex ) techniques was studied and has yielded better performing layers than other titanium nitride and carbonitride coatings [110]. [Pg.244]

Garbonitrides. Use of carbonitrides in metal cutting tools, both Ti(C,N) coatings (18) and Ni—Mo cemented carbonitrides (19), is expected to increase in the 1990s. [Pg.455]

Titanium carbonitride (TiC Nj. ) combines the wear properties of TiC with the low friction and oxidation- and chemical-resistance of TiN. It is an important material for tool coating. It is deposited by the following simplified reaction ... [Pg.287]

Titanium Carbonitride. Ti(C,N) is a solid solution of TiC and TiN and combines the properties of both materials. It offers excellent protection against abrasive wear and has good lubricating characteristics. It is used to coat tools and dies for the processing of ceramics, graphite, and filled plastics. [Pg.431]

Nitride Coatings. Carbide tips coated with titanium nitride or titanium carbonitride are usually manufactured by a CVD process using T1CI4, H4, and N2 in a hot-wall reactor. [Pg.1078]
