Coagulating reservoir

A direct-write assembly is a fabrication method that employs a controlled translation stage, which moves a pattern-generating device, for example, ink deposition nozzle, to create materials with controlled architecture and composition [4], Arbitrary 3D structures can be prepared by this method. For the pol3rmeric ink solidification occurs either upon deposition into a coagulating reservoir or UV exposure. This method can be characterized to be bioinspired because they copy a nature process - direct ink writing in the form of spider webs. [Pg.152]

Sialoglycoconjugates also seem to be involved in calcium binding of bone tissues.415 Neu as a component of an acidic glycoprotein is directly involved in the formation of a sperm reservoir in the vagina of the pig by salt-like coagulation with a basic protein of the boar ejaeu-... [Pg.217]

Example 17.11 A flow of 25,000 m /d of treated water is to be disinfected using chlorine in pressurized steel cylinders. The raw water comes from a reservoir where the water from the watershed has a very low alkalinity. With this low raw-water alkalinity, coupled with the use of alum in the coagulation process, the alkalinity of the treated water when it finally arrives at the chlorination tank is practically zero. Calculate the amount of alkalinity required to neutralize the acid produced during the addition of the chlorine gas. [Pg.772]

The coupled biogeochemical cycling of iron and arsenic has also recently been studied in a system dominated by the addition of iron as an engineering practice.14 Since 1996, ferric chloride has been added as a coagulant to the Los Angeles Aqueduct in order to control the levels of naturally occurring arsenic that reach the water distribution system for the City of Los Angeles. The iron- and arsenic-rich floe formed by this process is deposited in North Haiwee Reservoir. Sediments and porewaters from this reservoir were examined to determine the extent to which arsenic and iron are remobilized in the sediments and to probe the speciation of arsenic in the solid phase and its possible effects on arsenic remobilization. [Pg.137]

Repair of systems for potable water treatment Water treatment plants are built of reinforced concrete and processes employed in water ptuifi-cation cause breakdown of concrete. These processes include preparation of coagulant and its mixing with water, chlorination of water, and preventive bactericidal treatment of reservoirs. Leakage of water, especially at sites of wall and floor joints, is frequently observed. [Pg.358]
