Climate change impacts trends

Here we revisit two important topics in limnology just to show that climate change studies that only include data from lakes are not applicable to reservoirs. Firstly, we show that temperature trends in reservoirs and lakes cannot be interpreted in the same way. Secondly, we show that drivers of the deep-water oxygen content in reservoirs and lakes can be very different. This last analysis will be used in the following section as the starting point for a new framework for climate change impact studies in reservoirs.

All studies to date that have endeavored to use carbonate or phosphate fossils to infer paleoelevations have focused on stable isotope trends. This principal reliance on isotopes presents potentially serious problems on two fronts—the presumed constancy of isotopic lapse rates, and the required models of the impact of global climate change on local climate, independent of local topography. 

The growth of population size and trends in civilization development bring with them many problems of global ecodynamics, especially the impact of society on climatic trends.
