Clausius, Rudolph Julius Emmanuel (1822-88) A German physicist noted for formulating the second law of thermodynamics in 1850 independent of Lord Kelvin. He introduced the concept of entropy, and also contributed to electrochemistry and electrodynamics. He held teaching posts in Berlin and Zurich before taking a post at Wurzburg in 1869. [Pg.68]
